Presented Lori Nichols provided an overview of CMS's Meaningful Use incentive program as it relates to family planning sites, laboratories, and public health departments. The discussion includes an overview of Stage 1 criteria as well as a description of proposed criteria for the upcoming Stages 2 and 3. It focuses on the following 3 topic areas: (1) Public health objectives of meaningful use; (2) Submission requirements around reportable lab results and syndromic surveillance data that qualify under Meaningful Use criteria; and (3) Potential barriers among family planning and STD providers to achieving Meaningful Use.
