Standards
The U.S. Census Bureau, Racial and Ethnic Classifications Used in Census 2000 and Beyond website provides an overview about changes that were made for the Census 2000 questions on race and Hispanic origin. These changes conform to the revisions of the standards for the classification of federal data on race and ethnicity promulgated by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in October 1997.
